The National Inspection Council for Electrical Installation Contracting (NICEIC)
is the industry's independent, non profit-making, voluntary regulatory body covering
the whole of the United Kingdom.
The NICEIC's sole purpose is to protect consumers
from unsafe and unsound electrical work.
They are not a trade association and do
not represent the interests of electrical contractors.
Set up 50 years
ago, the NICEIC maintains a Roll of Approved Contractors that are assessed every
year to check that their work meets the national safety standard BS 7671 (the
IEE Wiring Regulations) and other relevant technical standards.
The NICEIC employs more
than 60 Area Engineers, who make annual visits to Approved Contractors to assess
their technical capability and inspect samples of their electrical work. |
